Been digging into $WORM and the more I look at it, the more the thesis makes sense to me. Having spent so much time working on our own trading platform, something I keep coming back to is that finding opportunities is only half the job. The bigger question is whether you can actually trust an automated system when it has permission to move real money. That’s what gets me bullish here. Everyone is chasing the AI agent that makes the best calls. I’m interested in the infrastructure that could make those agents safer to use. An agent doesn’t need to have its wallet hacked to lose your money. It can be manipulated into making a transfer itself. A transaction can be perfectly valid on-chain and still be completely wrong for the person whose funds are being spent. Agent Wormhole is building tools around that problem, checking the information an agent reads, the token metadata it encounters and the payments it signs. There’s published open-source code, free local tooling and an MCP integration. Something developers can actually work with rather than just another AI roadmap. The payment guard is probably the part I find most interesting. It’s designed to check the recipient, amount, token and network against the server’s payment quote, rather than simply trusting what the model says it intended to do. It doesn’t make the whole system impossible to exploit, but putting an independent check between an agent’s output and your money makes a lot of sense to me. Then there’s the $WORM token itself. The team’s stated model is to use paid-service revenue for buybacks and burns. That’s the connection I want to see with these projects. A reason for people to use the product, and a way for that usage to benefit the token. Obviously the key word there is paid. Free scans and download numbers are one thing. Repeat customers generating revenue that can be traced through to buybacks are what would really strengthen the thesis. My bet isn’t that every AI agent will need Wormhole. It’s that as more agents get permission to trade and spend, the demand for independent security controls grows. They don’t need to own the entire market for that to become an interesting business. Still early and there’s plenty to prove. I’ll be watching actual integrations, repeat paid usage and verifiable burns rather than just announcements. But I like the problem they’re tackling, especially having seen how much goes into building an automated trading product. Everyone wants to talk about how much money an agent could make. Far fewer are focused on what stops it sending that money somewhere it never should have. That’s the $WORM thesis for me. Bullish on the opportunity, with real adoption being what turns it from a good story into something much bigger.
